Barbara Bush was born Barbara Pierce on June 8, 1925, in New York, New York. She was the First Lady of the United States from 1989 until 1993. She married George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States, on January 6, 1945. They have six children together. Barbara also served as Second Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989, as her husband was the nation’s Vice President. Her oldest child, George W., became the Governor of Texas and the 43rd President of the United States. Her son Jeb became the 43rd Governor of Florida.
