Barbara Hershey


Barbara Hershey was born Barbara Herzstein on February 5, 1948, in Hollywood, California. Hershey is an Oscar-nominated actress who is perhaps best known for her starring role opposite Bette Midler in the beloved 1988 film Beaches. She made her acting debut in 1966 in the television series The Monroes. In 1968, she starred in With Six You Get Eggroll, thereby starting her film career. She has since appeared in miniseries such as From Here to Eternity and A Killing in a Small Town and films including The Portrait of a Lady, The Entity, Hannah and Her Sisters, The Stunt Man, The Right Stuff, The Natural, Hoosiers, Shy People, A World Apart and The Last Temptation of Christ. Her work has earned her an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe and two Cannes Film Festival Awards for Best Actress. In 1972, Hershey changed her name to “Barbara Seagull,” but she changed in back in 1974. On August 8, 1992, she married Stephen Douglas, but the couple divorced in November 1993. Hershey has one child with actor David Carradine, whom she was in a relationship with from 1972 to 1975. In 1999, Hershey started dating actor Naveen Andrews of Lost fame. Their relationship ended in May 2010.
