Billy Ray Cyrus was born August 25, 1961, in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Cyrus is a popular country music singer-songwriter and actor who is known for being the father of Disney Channel superstar Miley Cyrus, and for playing her father in the hit series Hannah Montana. His debut studio album, 1992’s Some Gave All, went nine times platinum and spent seventeen consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, the longest for any debut artist. It was later ranked the 16th best-selling album of all time by Billboard. The biggest hit from that album was the platinum single “Achy Breaky Heart.” Cyrus has since released 10 more studio albums. He started his acting career in 1999, but had small parts until landing the title role in the series Doc, which he starred in from 2001 to 2004. He then starred in Hannah Montana from 2006 to 2010. In 2007, he appeared on the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars, finishing in fifth place with partner Karina Smirnoff. His musical career has earned him many awards, including a CMA Award, two American Music Awards, a BMI Songwriter of the Year Award and the Bob Hope Congressional Medal of Honor Society Entertainer’s Award. Cyrus married Cindy Smith in 1986, but they divorced in 1991. In December 1992, he married Tish Finley. They have three children together. Cyrus also adopted Tish's two children, and he has another child from a previous relationship. Cyrus and his second wife, Miley’s mom, filed for divorce in October 2010, amid rumors of infidelity on her part.
