Carrie Prejean

Who would have thought that the Miss USA California would have caused such a controversy by exercising her freedom of speech? Carrie Prejean is 21 years old and raised in San Diego, California. She attends college at the University of San Diego and is studying to be an elementary school special education teacher. Of course, being from San Diego, she is a Padres fan, and is currently in her third season as a member of the Padres “Pad Squad.” On top of being a student and pageant girl, Prejean is a model, and had a centerfold in Bliss Magazine. She was also on PJ Salvage’s fall catalogue cover and modeled for E! Entertainment at the Academy Awards. She has also done modeling work for Target, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale, Nordstrom, and has been in countless fashion shows. In April 2009, Carrie was crowned Miss California at the Miss USA Pageant. She brought about quite the controversy when answering her final question regarding same-sex marriage. In May 2009, a partially nude photograph of Prejean with her back turned to the camera was spilled on the internet, which led to the directors of Miss California USA investigating Prejean for possibly violating a clause in her contract. On May 12, 2009, Donald Trump, president of Miss USA announced that Prejean would keep her crown. However, on May 27, 2009, while guest hosting on Fox and Friends, Carrie mentioned her position on same sex marriage was the same as both the majority of California voters and Barack Obama. After this stint, K2 Productions made the decision to terminate Prejean’s contract for continued breach of contract issues. Donald Trump approved this on June 12, 2009. Since her termination as Miss California USA, she has stated that she would like to pose for Playboy and appear on the reality television show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me out of Here!
