Chris Pine is a native of Los Angeles and is the son of Robert Pine and Gwynne Gilford. Pine grew up in a family of actors - his father was an actor who appeared in CHiPS, his mother was an actress, and his grandmother was Anne Gwynne, a Hollywood actress. Chris received a Bachelors degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley. He made his acting debut in 2003 in an episode of ER. During that same year he also made performances in The Guardian and CSI: Miami. In 2004, he played one of Anne Hathaway's love interests in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. In 2005, he was in an episode of Six Feet Under. In 2006, Pine starred opposite Lindsay Lohan in the romantic comedy Just My Luck. In 2007, he turned down a role in a film adaptation of White Jazz in order to accept the role of James T. Kirk in the 2009 film Star Trek.
