Paula Abdul has said she wanted to 'squish him, squeeze him and dangle him from [her] rear view mirror' and America obviously couldn't agree more, voting Miami-born singer David Archuleta into the final two of the seventh season of American Idol. The show's youngest finalist, David was born (on December 28, 1990) and raised in the Sunshine State until the age of 13, when his family (Mom, Dad, older sis Claudia and younger siblings Amber, Daniel and Jazzy) moved to Utah. At the age of six, a videotaped performance of the Broadway musical Les Miserables inspired David to pursue a singing career. In 2003, at the age of 12, David became Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search. When he auditioned for Idol in San Diego, he stood out because, as he told the judges, he had successfully recovered from vocal paralysis. His rendition of John Mayer's 'Waiting for the World to Change' wowed Simon, Paula and Randy, and David began his rise to the top of the American Idol heap.
