Eddie Murphy


Eddie Murphy was born April 3, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York. He is an actor, stand-up comedian, director and producer who was ranked number 10 on Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time” list. Eddie got his start as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984, for which he received two Emmy nominations. He subsequently appeared in such hit films as 48 Hrs., Beverly Hills Cop and Trading Places. He won three People’s Choice Awards, including the 1985 award for Favorite All-Around Male Entertainer. After a minor slump in his career, he came back strong with films such as the Shrek series, The Nutty Professor, The Haunted Mansion, Daddy Day Care, Mulan and Dr. Dolittle. In 2006, he appeared in the critically acclaimed film musical Dreamgirls, for which he won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor and received an Academy Award nomination. He married Nicole Mitchell in 1991, but they divorced in 2006. He dated former Spice Girl Mel B in 2006 and fathered a child with her. In 2008, he purportedly wed Tracey Edmonds, but it was later revealed that the marriage was never legalized.
