Edie Falco was born July 5, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. The TV, film and stage actress is best known for starring as Carmela Soprano on HBO’s hit series The Sopranos from 1999 to 2007, for which she won two Golden Globes, five Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Emmys for Best Actress. Since 2009, she has starred as the titular character on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, for which she won another Emmy for Best Actress. She also played Diane Wittlesey on Oz from 1997 to 2000, and has appeared in films such as Sunshine State, Freedomland and Family of the Year. In 2003, she was diagnosed with breast cancer but chose not to go public with the news until a year later. Falco is an Emmy Award, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild award-winning actress. She was formerly in a relationship with actor Stanley Tucci, who was married at the time. She has two adopted children.
