Ellen Burstyn


Ellen Burstyn was born Edna Rae Gillooly on December 7, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan. She is an Oscar-winning actress whose best-known films include The Exorcist, The Last Picture Show, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Same Time, Next Year and Requiem for a Dream. She made her Broadway debut in 1957 and won the 1975 Tony for Best Actress for her performance in the play Same Time, Next Year. In 1986, she had her own ABC sitcom, The Ellen Burstyn Show. Ellen had recurring guest appearances on HBO’s Big Love from 2007 to 2009; prior to that, she starred on series such as That’s Life and The Book of Daniel. She has been married and divorced three times. She and her second husband adopted a boy in 1962.
