John Stamos Bio

John Stamos' Bio

For eight years, John Stamos was everyone’s favorite uncle on Full House, but there’s more to him than fabulous feathered hair and rock star good looks. John, born on August 19, 1963, in Cypress, California, began his career in 1982, playing bad boy and aspiring rocker Blackie Parrish on the long-running soap General Hospital, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in 1993, but leaving the show one year later. After a few short-lived TV series, in 1987 Stamos joined Bob Saget and the Olsen Twins on the 'love it or hate it' sitcom Full House. The show was huge and ran on ABC for eight seasons. Since losing the 'house,' John has been in a variety of made-for-TV movies and made guest appearances on shows like Friends.

John also strutted on Broadway in the musicals Cabaret, Nine and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Oh, and he’s toured with the Beach Boys. In 2006, John joined the cast of the medical drama E.R., playing Gulf War vet/EMT-turned-med student Tony Gates. The sizzling intern will hang up his scrubs after the show's final episode in 2009, but he'll have plenty of directions to take when he does.
