Julia Stiles

With her classic looks, it’s no surprise that Julia Stiles first burst on the scene in a modern version of a Shakespeare classic. Julia O'Hara Stiles, born March 28, 1981, in New York City, started acting at age eleven, performing with New York's La MaMa Theatre Company. After guest spots on TV series such as Ghostwriter and Chicago Hope and made-for-TV movies Before Women Had Wings and The 60s, Julia became impossible to ignore with 10 Things I Hate About You, a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, where Julia’s icy character Kat Stratford was wooed by the late Heath Ledger. Julia’s next Bard-inspired projects, O and Hamlet didn’t fare quite as well. In 2001, Julia had another box office hit with Save the Last Dance for Me, where she plays an aspiring ballerina who finds love, and some new hip-hop moves in an inner-city school. State and Main and Mona Lisa Smile followed, but her role in the Bourne trilogy, opposite Matt Damon, has had some critics calling Julia ‘the next Meryl Streep.’  Even if the super spy doesn’t return for a fourth installment, Julia will never be a secret agent again.
