- Born: October 25, 1984
Katy Perry was born October 25, 1984, in Santa Barbara, California. She is a pop singer with hits such as “Hot ’N Cold” and “California Gurls.” Katy grew up in a very religious household and started her career as a gospel singer. Katy had a few small hits, but when she signed with Columbia Records and released her album One of the Boys in 2008, she experienced huge success. All of the singles she released from that album -- including “I Kissed a Girl,” “Hot ’N Cold” and “Waking Up in Vegas” -- became hits. In 2010, she released Teenage Dream, which was her first CD to debut at number one. Some singles from that album include “Peacock,” “California Gurls” and “Teenage Dream,” all of which were successful on the radio and as digital downloads. She dated singer Travie McCoy on and off for many years, but the pair finally ended things in 2009. That same year, she met and became engaged to comedian and actor Russell Brand.
