Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant was born August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a professional basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe began playing for the Lakers in 1996, but did not get the chance to display his athletic ability until Phil Jackson became the head coach in 1999. Since then, the Lakers have won five NBA championships and Kobe was named the Finals MVP in 2009 and 2010. He has endorsement deals with Adidas and Coca-Cola. Kobe married Vanessa Laine in 2001 when she was only 19. They have two daughters together. Kobe’s wife stayed with him even after allegations surfaced that he had sexually assaulted a woman in a hotel room in 2003. Although the scandal tarnished his image, the charges were dropped in 2004.
