Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain was born February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. He was a musician and lead singer of the band Nirvana. Growing up, Kurt was described as a happy child. But when his parents divorced when he was eight, he became defiant and depressed. Kurt formed Nirvana in 1985, and the band quickly became well known in the Seattle music scene. Their first commercial success came in 1991, when they released the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from their groundbreaking album Nevermind. Kurt began dating Courtney Love in 1991, and they married in February 1992 after Courtney discovered she was pregnant. Their daughter, Francis Bean, was born August 18, 1992, but was taken from them because they were deemed unfit parents due to their drug use. They were able to regain custody a few months later. Kurt had struggled with depression as well as an addiction to heroin, and took his own life on April 5, 1994. It was three days before his body was discovered.
