Lauryn Hill was born May 25, 1975, in South Orange, New Jersey. She is a singer and songwriter who was a member of the music group the Fugees. Before joining the Fugees, she appeared on the soap opera As the World Turns, and in 1993 she starred in Sister Act II: Back in the Habit. Some of the Fugees’ best-known songs include “No Woman, No Cry,” “Ready or Not” and “Killing Me Softly.” In 1998, Lauryn began a solo career with the release of her CD The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which sold millions of copies and won her five Grammy Awards. She dated fellow Fugee member Wyclef Jean, but their relationship ended in 1994. She became pregnant with Rohan Marley’s baby in 1996, though he was married to another woman at the time. Lauryn and Rohan have since had four more children together.
