Marc Anthony

Marc Anthony's parents must have known they had a star in the making, as he was named after famous Mexican singer Marco Antonio Muniz when he arrived in the world in New York City on September 16, 1968. He started his career as a session musician in New York's freestyle and house music scene. He wrote and performed with groups such as Menudo and the Latin Rascals. In 1992, Marc turned his interest to salsa and Spanish music and released his Spanish-language debut Otra Nota in 1993. He toured with legendary Latin performer Ruben Blades and became one of the hottest acts in salsa. He starred with Blades on Broadway in 1998 in the short-lived Paul Simon musical The Capeman and recorded a duet, 'No Me Ames' with Jennifer Lopez for her debut album On the 6 in 1999. Hoping to find the crossover success of his fellow Latin artists like Lopez and Ricky Martin, Marc released his first English album, Marc Anthony, in 1999 which delivered the top five hit 'I Need to Know.' Soon after he married former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres (the couple had two sons and eventually divorced). He released a second English album, Mended, in 2002 but continued to meet his greatest musical success with his salsa albums, such as Libre and Amar Sin Mentiras. In addition to his singing career, Marc has also appeared in a number of films, including Hackers, Bringing Out the Dead and Man on Fire. After collaborating with singer Jennifer Lopez professionally, the two formed a more personal relationship, marrying on June 5, 2004. The couple has since toured together and starred in the film El Cantante. Their greatest work as a duo has been their twin children, Max and Emme, born on February 22, 2008. This talented singer continues to win the amor of fans around the world.
