Michelle Williams

In a career that's spanned a mere 14 years, Michelle Williams has hit the highest highs and the lowest lows, and has come through it all with grace. Michelle is the epitome of the small town girl next door, born (on September 9, 1980) and raised in Kalispell, Montana. It wasn't long after her family moved to California that Michelle was bitten by the acting bug. She began her career in 1993 with guest spots on TV shows such as Baywatch and Home Improvement and a recurring role on Lassie. Her first major movie was as a young Natasha Henstridge in Species. In 1998, Michelle joined rising stars Katie Holmes and James Van Der Beek on the WB drama series Dawson's Creek. Her exposure on the show led to roles in films such as Dick with Kirsten Dunst and Halloween: H20. After Dawson's Creek ended its run in 2003, Michelle continued to work in smaller films and in 2005, received critical acclaim and Golden Globe, Oscar and BAFTA nominations for her role as Heath Ledger's wife in Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain. Off-screen, Heath and Michelle fell in love and had a daughter, Matilda Rose, on October 28, 2005. The couple stayed together for three years and tragically, Heath passed away on January 22, 2008. Michelle mourned the loss of the actor and then went back to work on the release of Mammoth. Her appearance at Cannes Film Festival in France of that year seemed to mark her comeback into the industry's upper echelon.
