Minnie Driver

Minnie Driver is a London-born actress and singer-songwriter who has had a rich career so far. Amelia J. Fiona Driver (Minnie was a childhood nickname) was born on January 31, 1970, and lived for a number of years in Barbados before returning to England and studying at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She began her professional career working in British television and first came to the U.S. courtesy of the film Circle of Friends in 1995. Minnie put on 30 pounds to play Irish student Bernadette 'Benny' Hogan, who falls in love with Chris O'Donnell while trying to avoid the advances of the slimy Alan Cumming. She went on to supporting roles in the critical favorites Big Night and Sleepers and played the object of John Cusack's affections in the hit Grosse Pointe Blank. In 1997, she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Matt Damon's girlfriend in Good Will Hunting. Minnie has been in a number of high-profile projects since, including a recurring guest spot on Will & Grace and starring roles in the films Return to Me and Beautiful. 2004 saw Minnie stretch her wings and release her first album, Everything I've Got in My Pocket. She also toured the UK to promote the album. In 2007, Minnie signed on to play a traveler who moves into the suburbs on the FX series The Riches, co-starring Eddie Izzard. The show has developed a loyal following and Minnie was nominated for an Emmy for her work. 2007 also saw the release of her second album, Seastories and in early 2008, she announced that she was expecting her first child. This multi-talented performer deserves all of the good will she receives.
