Television personality and author Rachael Ray is known for her 'yum-o' recipes and her growing fame is an EVOO-lution of her perky personality and experience in the food industry. Rachael was born on August 25, 1968 in Glens Falls, New York. As a child, she was surrounded by all things food and aspired to be a chef since she was three-years-old, watching her parents run restaurants on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and later in upstate New York.
Her first job was at the candy counter at Macy's in New York City, where she eventually managed the fresh foods department. She has been a food buyer and manager for a number of stores in New York and, to help increase sales, began a series of cooking classes, showing shoppers how to cook quick, healthy and tasty meals. With her '30 Minute Meals' classes gaining popularity, she was asked by the local CBS affiliate to appear on a once-weekly segment on their newscast.
Her bubbly personality and tasty recipes led to a series of cookbooks, radio appearances and eventually a contract with the Food Network, where she hosted such shows as Tasty Travels, $40 A Day, Inside Dish and 30 Minute Meals, which earned her a 2006 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Service Show and a nomination for Outstanding Service Show Host. After making a series of of guest appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, she was offered her own daytime talk show, Rachael Ray, which premiered on September 18, 2006. In 2007, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
Following in the footsteps of Oprah, she launched her own lifestyle magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray in 2006. This TV chef, who has made FHM's list of the 100 Sexiest Women in the US twice (in 2004 and 2006) married singer John Cusimano in September of 2005. With her shows, books, magazines and product endorsements, Rachael has easily become one of America's favorite chefs - how good is that?
