Regis Philbin


Regis Philbin was born August 5, 1931, in New York, New York. He is a television personality who is best known for hosting various talk shows and game shows since the 1950s. In 1988, his morning show with Kathie Lee Gifford became nationally syndicated and was renamed Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. After Gifford left the show in 2000, it became Live with Regis, then when current cohost Kelly Ripa signed on in 2001, it became Live! with Regis & Kelly. Regis has also made many guest appearances on various TV shows, including Hope & Faith and Becker. On September 17, 2009, he set the Guinness World Record for the most time spent in front of a TV camera (16,343 hours). Regis hosted the hit game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire from 1999 until 2002, and again in 2004 and 2009. On the show, he originated the catch phrase, “Is that your final answer?” Regis has been married to Joy Philbin since 1970. They have four children.
