Robert De Niro was born August 17, 1943, in New York, New York, He is an Oscar-winning actor, director and producer who is best known for the films The Godfather, Part II, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull and Cape Fear. Robert has been nominated for six Academy Awards, winning two. He has also been nominated for eight Golden Globes, winning one. Robert attended the LaGuardia High School of Music and Art (a.k.a. the Fame school), but dropped out when he was 16. He later attended the Stella Adler Conservatory and Lee Strasberg’s Acting Studio. Robert’s first film was 1963’s The Wedding Party; after that, he appeared in films such as Bang the Drum Slowly and Mean Streets. In 1974, he landed the role of Don Vito in The Godfather, Part II. His career then took off, and he went on to star in such films as New York, New York, The King of Comedy, Goodfellas, Casino and The Good Shepherd. He also appeared in the hit film comedies Analyze This and Meet the Parents, and their two sequels. His third film in the Meet the Parents franchise, The Little Fockers, is set to release in 2010. From 1976 to 1988, Robert was married to Diahnne Abbott, with whom he has one child. Since 1997, he has been married to Grace Hightower, with whom he also has one child. Robert also has two children with his former longtime girlfriend, model Toukie Smith.
