Ron Howard

Bio

Ron Howard was born March 1, 1954, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He is an actor and director best known for playing Opie on The Andy Griffith Show from 1960 to 1968, and Richie Cunningham in the popular 1970s TV series Happy Days. He was also the narrator of the critically acclaimed show Arrested Development. Born into an acting family, Ron’s first role (at age 18 months) was in the film Frontier Woman. After Happy Days, he turned to directing; he struck a deal with director Roger Corman, agreeing to star in Corman’s Eat My Dust if Corman would produce his first movie, Grand Theft Auto. Ron has been writing and directing films ever since. His most popular films include Cinderella Man, Backdraft, Parenthood, Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon, A Beautiful Mind, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Da Vinci Code. Ron married his high-school sweetheart, Cheryl, in 1975. The couple has four children.
