Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie, a.k.a. Roseann, O’Donnell was born March 21, 1962, in Long Island, New York. A well-known comedian, she has acted in feature films and hosted her own Emmy-winning talk show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, from 1996 to 2002. At age 10, O’Donnell’s mother passed away from cancer. After dropping out of college at 18, O’Donnell starred on Gimme a Break! in 1981, then, in 1982, got her big break on the talent show Star Search. Rosie has since appeared on TV shows such as Seinfeld and Will & Grace, and in hit films such as A League of Their Own, Sleepless in Seattle and The Flintstones. In 2000, she partnered with Gruner+Jahr USA to revamp McCall’s, changing the magazine’s name to Rosie, but editorial conflicts caused her to leave the magazine in 2002. In 2006, she signed on as a moderator on The View, but left the show in 2007 after an infamous on-air dispute with fellow moderator Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Rosie had come out as a lesbian in 2002, and in 2004, she married Kelli Carpenter, a former Nickelodeon executive. The pair are parents to three adopted children and one child who was conceived via artificial insemination. They attempted to adopt a fifth child in Florida -- a foster child named Mia -- but the child was removed from their home due to Florida’s stringent laws against same-sex family adoptions. The family currently lives in Nyack, a suburb of New York City. However, Rosie and Kelli separated in 2007, and Rosie is now in a relationship with Tracy Kachtick-Anders, an uk.
