Scott Baio was born September 22, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York. The actor is best known for playing Chachi Arcola on the hit 1970s sitcom Happy Days. After that, he starred in two other popular shows: Joanie Loves Chachi and the syndicated comedy series Charles in Charge. Growing up in Hollywood, Scott got a taste for acting at a young age. His first role was in the 1976 film Bugsy Malone, a children’s gangster musical directed by Alan Parker. That same year, he was cast as The Fonz’s cousin, Chachi, on Happy Days. He later earned two Emmy nominations for his roles in the TV specials Stoned and All the Kids Do It. In 1982, he starred in the film Zapped! alongside future Charles in Charge co-star Willie Aames. In the ’90s, he made guest appearances on a number of TV shows, including Full House, Touched by an Angel, Veronica’s Closet and The Nanny. In 2000, he starred in the film Very Mean Men, which, according to Variety Magazine, revived his career. Scott’s most recent projects include starring in several episodes of the Emmy-winning series Arrested Development and hosting the VH1 reality show Confessions of a Teen Idol. In 2007, Scott married longtime girlfriend Renee Sloan. The couple was pregnant with twins later that year, but they lost one of the babies at 11 weeks. After the birth of their daughter, Bailey, they started the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation to provide financial support to other families dealing with children’s metabolic disorders.
