Sela Ward

Bio

Sela Ward was born July 11, 1956, in Meridian, Mississippi. She is an actress who is best known for her roles on the television series Sisters and Once and Again. After graduating college, Sela moved to New York City and was discovered by the top modeling agency Wilhelmina. Her first acting gig was starring in Maybelline commercials. Sela then moved to California to start acting full-time; her first film role was in 1983’s The Man Who Loved Women, followed by Nothing in Common in 1986. Almost a decade later, in 1994, Sela won her first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role on Sisters. From 1999 until 2002, the actress starred as the spokesperson for Sprint in their television commercials. Shortly after that, she landed the role of Lily Brooks Manning on the series Once and Again, for which she later received her second Emmy. Sela subsequently turned down roles in CSI: Miami and Desperate Housewives because she wanted to spend more time with her family. She later accepted a recurring role on House, and recently signed on to appear in CSI: NY. Sela has been married to Howard Sherman since May of 1992. The couple has two children, Austin and Anabella.
