Bio

Sharon Stone was born March 10, 1958, in Meadville, Pennsylvania. The model-turned-actress is best known for her roles in the films Basic Instinct and Casino, the latter for which she was nominated for an Academy Award and won the Golden Globe for Best Actress. In 1977, Sharon signed a contract with Ford Models. She soon started acting, landing mostly small roles in various TV series and made-for-TV movies. Her first starring role in a feature film was in 1985’s King Solomon’s Mines, alongside Richard Chamberlain; she also starred in the 1986 sequel, Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold. But her big break came in 1990, when she starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the blockbuster action movie Total Recall. The part landed her a spread in Playboy, followed by many more film roles, including a starring role in the controversial thriller Basic Instinct. Casino came three years later. In January 2010, it was announced that she would be joining the cast of the hit drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In September of 2001, Sharon had a stroke which left her partially paralyzed for several months and resulted in a speech impediment that she had to overcome. Sharon has been married three times, but in 2005, she started making comments about being bisexual. She has not confirmed the rumors, but has said she’s dated women.
