Sissy Spacek


Sissy Spacek was born Mary Elizabeth Spacek on December 25, 1949, in Quitman, Texas. The Oscar-winning actress and singer is best known for her roles in the films Coal Miner’s Daughter, In the Bedroom, Crimes of the Heart and the horror film Carrie. She has been nominated for an Academy Award six times and won Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of country singer Loretta Lynn in 1980’s Coal Miner’s Daughter. She has also been nominated for seven Golden Globes, of which she won three. Sissy’s first credited role came in 1972’s Prime Cut. In 2008, she revitalized her career by starring the comedy Four Christmases, and in 2010, she appeared in six episodes of the hit series Big Love. Sissy married art director Jack Fish in 1974. The couple has two daughters.
