Steven Seagal was born April 10, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan. The actor and martial artist is best known for his roles in the action films Above the Law and Under Siege and for directing and starring in the popular 1994 film On Deadly Ground. Steven started studying martial arts when he was seven and is now a 7th-degree black belt in aikido. He was the first nonnative to operate a dojo in Japan. In the late ’80s, he debuted on the silver screen in Above the Law. He then went on to star in dozens of other martial-arts movies, many of which went straight to DVD. He recently played the villain in the 2010 film Machete and stars in the TV series Southern Justice, which is set to premiere in 2011. Steven is a reserve deputy for Louisiana’s Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and as such stars in the A&E series Steven Seagal Lawman. Steven has been married and divorced three times and has six children. He has often overlapped his spouses and girlfriends.
