Willard Christopher Smith Jr. was born in Philadelphia on September 25, 1968. As a rapper, he had the teen anthem hit 'Parents Just Don't Understand' and was a millionaire by 20. Not being accustomed to the big bucks, he lived too high on the hog and went bankrupt. He got his second crack at a big break, this time on TV in the close-to-home role as a street-smart Philly kid on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. After six seasons, he scored the action film Independence Day, and followed that with, among other flicks, the big-budget brigade of Men in Black, Bad Boys and I, Robot. His 2006 movie, The Pursuit of Happiness, teamed him with real-life son Jaden. Will loves chess, is fluent in Spanish, and he and wife Jada Pinkett are longtime buds with Tom Cruise. One of his biggest career regrets is turning down the role of Neo in the sci-fi hit Matrix. We'd say things turned out okay anyway.
