Chace Crawford To Star In 'Footloose'

It's official!

Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford has official signed on to star in the remake of Footloose, a role which was previously filled by Zac Efron.

Paramount Pictures has confirmed to Us Magazine, "Chace Crawford will play the lead role of Ren McCormack in the film Footloose." Other stars who have auditioned for parts in the flick include Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Dancing With the Stars siblings Derek and Julianne Hough.

Chace has been the frontrunner for the role since Zac dropped out and involved in contract negotations due to his busy Gossip Girl commitments. The film is set to start filming in March 2010.

this role was tailor made for derek hough. he performed the lead in a stage production in london. you can youtube it... he's AMAZING. i mean can chace crawford sing? or more importantly can he DANCE???? i am sooooooooooooo upset with this decision. i think that trying to remake this movie is sort of impossible since the original is already fantastic but it could've been done with the right cast *cough* derek hough *cough* i think it's incredibly wierd that they imediately jumped to chace crawford after zac dropped out. i mean why? because they look alike?? that makes no sense!!!!! anyway i'm pissed off beyond belief... i am so close to not even seeing the film and if julianne hough gets cast in the movie i'd probably vomit.. derek was interested in the movie first and then his sister had to put her name into the mix too. she's so selfish and if you watch dwts she's all about self promotion... ugh!!! i really want the producers to reconsider. DEREK HOUGH IS REN!!!!!!!

Julianne would be perfect for the part. She's the only girl that can act, sing n DANCE. Plus, she's gorgeous.
