I think that she was really brave for doing the interview, and I think she is a good role model. It seems like the whole point of the interview is to let other women know that you don’t have to stay in an abusive relationship. We knew he was an ***hole when he beat her, now he seems like a selfish one too for trying to stop her from helping others.

You think 180 days of community service is a fair punishment for abusing your girlfriend? Even if she hit him first, that is NO excuse for what he did. A man should never in ANY CIRCUMSTANCES hit a woman. Did you even watch her 20/20 interview? That was the most inspiring thing I’ve seen in a long time. It took so much courage for her to talk about what happened, can you imagine how embarrassed she must have been? Abusive situations like this are going on all over the world, and hardly anything is being said. I didn’t even like her before I saw the interview, and now she has my utmost respect.

RiRi stated she would NOT LET IT GO-she would not drop it. She provoked the entire thing!! She also is guilty of abuse…she admitted in court docs that she too has hit Chris at times and verbally abusive too. She has no right speaking for me (I went through years of abuse) or anyone else!

honestly, some of the users here are in other words saying that it was ‘OK’ for chris to put his hands on rihanna and abusive the sh** out of her. those are the people that should keep their mouths shut and not write about stuff they have no knowledge in. i went through a same situation as riahanna and right now im looking up to her.it is NOT easy to talk about it. i went through a big phase where i just shut everyone out.. so rihanna talking bout is a very big step. ‘help her sell her albums’ ??? are you kidding me. she didnt need help BEFORE this situaiton, what makes you think she needs that ‘sympathy’ now. i think it was very courageous of rihanna to speak about it. and EXCUSE ME chris, i might love your music, but the situation was way out of hands when you decided to do what you did.

I really think he is not honest I’ve been seeing the way he’s been doing things and the way he talks and he’s not honest. The only reason I think he didn’t want Rihanna to speak was because of his image because like Rihanna says there’s still ignorant people out there that still defend him after seeing her picture beat up, the court docs, and now hearing her talk they are in denial.

He started WHALING on her. There is a difference between ONE HIT and an ATTACK. Imagine hitting a woman OVER and OVER while she screams… absolutely horrible.

Sorry but I agree, Rihanna probably did hit him first (I probably would have too just out of frustration), and I think that if she started beating on him the way he beat on her, she could have done some serious damage. I didn’t say that it was RIGHT for her to hit him. No, I completely agree that it was wrong of her to do that. But that doesn’t justify what he did to her. They both were wrong in hitting one another, and I’m not an advocate of abuse of any kind. I was only sticking up for Rihanna due to the comments posted about her.

I still stand by what I said though. No matter what Rihanna did, he had no right attacking her. If she was in a situation where she could not escape- and he was hitting, biting, and CHOKING her- then she was justified in using her stiletto (Although I have not heard this before, I’m taking your word for it). She was defending her life, that would even hold up in court. And apparently it did.
