Chris Brown To Rihanna: Assault Was A "Private Matter"

on Nov. 7, 2009 01:30 PM / 35 Comments

Chris Brown isn't so happy that Rihanna is telling the world the most intimate details of the fateful night back in February when he attacked her.

Brown has apologized several times in the past few months about what he did, but never had addressed or detailed the attack in the honest manner that Rihanna did in her 20/20 interview last night.

Now, in a statement to MTV News, he said,

"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8. I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us. I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."

What do you think about Chris' position?

I guess he wouldnt have to worry about it remaining a private manner if he didnt do it in the first place now would he ;)

Chris Brown did not write that state above by himself lol. I doubt he even knows what 'accountability' means.

i think that he is truely sorry for what he did and that he realizes what he did wrong.

    I don't understand..

"I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us."

Kinda like, "Domestic abuse - Keep it at home!"

She has every right to tell people.

an assault between two multi-million celebrities is not private at all. esp one where a police photo of a battered rihanna is released to the WORLD. nice try at an excuse chris brown. i think a hella lotta good comes from her talking about the already public scandal. she's a spokesperson for any girl who's ever been abused.

    what a douchebag....

Should anyone adderess her hitting him first? There is always 3 sides of the store his/hers and the truth! ReRe should have left it alone, but you do what you have to for sells right even lie alitte bite. Only two people know what really happened in that car one is truely sorry the other is still trying to play the victmin card for sells on her new album. Remember if she goes near him she will get in trouble to. So think people if both will get in trouble if they near each other that means???? like in most cases he took the blame for both their actions. He was and is truely sorry for that night!!!!

I think that she was really brave for doing the interview, and I think she is a good role model. It seems like the whole point of the interview is to let other women know that you don't have to stay in an abusive relationship. We knew he was an ***hole when he beat her, now he seems like a selfish one too for trying to stop her from helping others.

I totally agree with Chris. What is wrong with rihanna? she just keeps bringing up the issue over again and again. Get over it. She's so annoying, and i'm not even a chris brown fan. Judging by the comments and chris' comment, this issue isn't even being taken seriously anymore.
