Chris Brown To Rihanna: Assault Was A "Private Matter"

Chris Brown To Rihanna: Assault Was A

Chris Brown isn't so happy that Rihanna is telling the world the most intimate details of the fateful night back in February when he attacked her.

Brown has apologized several times in the past few months about what he did, but never had addressed or detailed the attack in the honest manner that Rihanna did in her 20/20 interview last night.

Now, in a statement to MTV News, he said,

"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8. I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us. I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."

What do you think about Chris' position?

[quote=What the heck!!] So your saying it's alright she hit him!!!!!!!!!!!!Whar a dumb A$$!! He also was in a abusive relationship!!!!she put her hand's on him too,not only her hands but she started to hit him with her stilettos!!!!!!That's considered a deadly weaponed!!! I didn't say that it was RIGHT for her to hit him. No, I completely agree that it was wrong of her to do that. But that doesn't justify what he did to her. They both were wrong in hitting one another, and I'm not an advocate of abuse of any kind. I was only sticking up for Rihanna due to the comments posted about her. I still stand by what I said though. No matter what Rihanna did, he had no right attacking her. If she was in a situation where she could not escape- and he was hitting, biting, and CHOKING her- then she was justified in using her stiletto (Although I have not heard this before, I'm taking your word for it). She was defending her life, that would even hold up in court. And apparently it did.

Didn't he come out and do like a whole bunch of interview before she did? How is that keeping it private when he can't do it himself?

Chris Brown did not write that state above by himself lol. I doubt he even knows what 'accountability' means. ummm okay, this is NOT the first time a girl has been beatin up by a boyfriend. Stuff like this happens EVERYDAY!,the media is just blowin it up wayy out of porportion!!!!!,Every couple goes through this;but im not sayin it was ok. Like i said b4 it happens everyday,b/c if the girl down the street from u got beat up by her boyfriend would u be talkin bout it for 8 months? HELL NAWW!;so drp it. and and he was sentenced 5 years to stay away from Rhianna? Thats RIDICULOUS,and not caused for!!

Some of you people are ridiculous... Rihanna was harassing him about a text, he probably grabbed the phone away cuz he didn't want her to keep reading, she probably starting grabbing for it and maybe even smacked him... but then he didn't just hit her. He started WHALING on her. There is a difference between ONE HIT and an ATTACK. Imagine hitting a woman OVER and OVER while she screams... absolutely horrible. Sorry but I agree, Rihanna probably did hit him first (I probably would have too just out of frustration), and I think that if she started beating on him the way he beat on her, she could have done some serious damage. BUT SHE DIDN'T. And there is the difference between the two of them. Chris's statement just verifies what every other abuser tries to say... "keep it between us, I promise I'll never do it again."

jayna, have you been abused? 'get over it' does not work. you need guidance counselling, and thats just the first steps. put yourself in rihanna's shoes. what a great role model for other woman out there.

OTAY HERE WE GO!!!!! I try not to weigh in on this issue EVER...but I am soooo sick of women right now and I am a woman. WTF is wrong with us ladies. I am NOT TURNING A BLIND EYE to this situation AT ALL!!! BUT DAM**T WOMEN!!!??? We have to stop being such huge hypocrites! Seriously. I dont care if Rihanna hit Chris Brown in the head with a baseball bat. he needed to find it in himself to behave like a grown man and DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS ON THAT YOUNG WOMAN! BBBBUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT...................... Rihanna...shame on you for coaxing him into a losing battle! Woman in general that put their hands on a man that has never touched them before is deliberately putting herself in harms way. You cannot hit a man and expect him to take it and not respond because "boys dont hit girls". This is UNJUST and unfair to put that type of strain on a man. Its not right ladies and you have to do better!!! NOW!! Rihanna, I am sorry that this went down the way it did because nobody deserves a beat down....... WOMEN..IF YOU HAVE A MAN THAT DOES NOT PUT HIS HANDS ON YOU....LEAVE HIM THAT WAY...DO NOT START PUTTING YOUR HANDS ON HIM AND TESTING HIS LEVEL OF RESTRAINT. GROW UP AND TALK TO YOUR MAN WITHOUT GETTING PHYSICAL. And remember everybody is human...no matter how wrong it is for a dude to hit a female....if you are picking a fight and hit your man....duck for the back swing....trust me its reflex sometimes!!! LMAO!! Thanks!

I'd say it's pretty obvious she's using the publicity from the fight (I hesitate to say attack, since IMHO she doesn't seem like the type to just sit back and take a beating) to help boost sales for her album that's about to drop this month. I think it's reprehensible how people are just gobbling up this regurgitated story... it's not even a story! She got lippy, he smacked her around... what makes her so special? It happens to millions of nameless, faceless people every day, yet they're not interviewed on 20/20. And I'm sorry, but her "telling her story" isn't helping anyone but her... these people who thank her for her "bravery" in telling what happened... what are they thinking? Does anyone really think she cares if anyone benefits from her ordeal? Please.

You think 180 days of community service is a fair punishment for abusing your girlfriend? Even if she hit him first, that is NO excuse for what he did. A man should never in ANY CIRCUMSTANCES hit a woman. Did you even watch her 20/20 interview? That was the most inspiring thing I've seen in a long time. It took so much courage for her to talk about what happened, can you imagine how embarrassed she must have been? Abusive situations like this are going on all over the world, and hardly anything is being said. I didn't even like her before I saw the interview, and now she has my utmost respect. So your saying it's alright she hit him!!!!!!!!!!!!Whar a dumb A$$!! He also was in a abusive relationship!!!!she put her hand's on him too,not only her hands but she started to hit him with her stilettos!!!!!!That's considered a deadly weaponed!!!

Only two people know what really happened in that car one is truely sorry the other is still trying to play the victmin card for sells on her new album. Remember if she goes near him she will get in trouble to. So think people if both will get in trouble if they near each other that means???? like in most cases he took the blame for both their actions. He was and is truely sorry for that night!!!! I agree with you......... why dosen't anyone say anything about her putting her hand's on him!!!!!!!!!!I remember hearing that she started to hit him after he got that text from that hoe!!!!!! I'm not saying it was right of Chris to hit her but in a way he just defended him self !!!!He told her to drop it but the b!t@h keep on going !!!!!So when you think about it they are both at fault so don't only talk sh!t about him she deserves some of the crap he get's from people cause she is not a saint!!!!!!with that said ...............I still love Chris i know the guy is sorry for what he did he learned his lesson and i'm sure he will never do it again!!!!!!!!

I dont think in any way shape or form it was okay for chris to beat rihanna. i am a huqqqe chris brown fan but i would never stand behind him in that situation. rihanna is human like anybody else and did not deserve to be treated that way. it doesnt matter if she did provoke it thats still not riqht. I dont aqree that 180 hours of community service was a fair punishment but that was what he was sentenced and he did it he did indeed serve his debt to society. It was VERY VERY couraqes of rihanna to do somethinq like that. I was abused and it took me 4 years to say anythinq. I couldnt imaqine how she felt doinq that interveiw and for her to stay calm and collected as lonq as she did i qive her mad props for that. I am a fan of both of them and wish them the best of luck in and out of the music world!

I really think he is not honest I've been seeing the way he's been doing things and the way he talks and he's not honest. The only reason I think he didn't want Rihanna to speak was because of his image because like Rihanna says there's still ignorant people out there that still defend him after seeing her picture beat up, the court docs, and now hearing her talk they are in denial. I know if this happened to YOU, your FATHER, your DAUGHTER, your MOTHER, BROTHER, BFF this would not be coming out of your mouths. You would not defend the abuser this way. Rihanna should speak because if she doesn't people will assume what happened, like these idiots insisting she hit him first and she provoked him. She said she didn't hit him first she doesn't get sh*t for lying, it would just backfire later if Chris would put her lies out, but it's not gonna happen because she didn't hit him. He has yet to say it was all his fault, because he's smart and knows this way his ignorant fans will continue to praise him, and assume things that are not. It's ok to love this worthless idol, but don't criticize rihanna for doing what's best for her, telling her story. BTW she does not need to do these interviews for album sales, before this she was a platinum selling artist don't forget that. I hope chris does get the help he needs, and RIhanna does not deserve the things that are being said about her. Like i said for the people saying she started it have you ever caught the one you love in a lie cheating on you, imagine the pain she felt, she was upset, did she deserve that beating, well would you deserve it after venting out.

honestly, some of the users here are in other words saying that it was 'OK' for chris to put his hands on rihanna and abusive the sh** out of her. those are the people that should keep their mouths shut and not write about stuff they have no knowledge in. i went through a same situation as riahanna and right now im looking up to her.it is NOT easy to talk about it. i went through a big phase where i just shut everyone out.. so rihanna talking bout is a very big step. 'help her sell her albums' ??? are you kidding me. she didnt need help BEFORE this situaiton, what makes you think she needs that 'sympathy' now. i think it was very courageous of rihanna to speak about it. and EXCUSE ME chris, i might love your music, but the situation was way out of hands when you decided to do what you did. @ cici i think you are a person that is saying that its OK for a man to hit a women, and for that i feel ashamed if you are a girl/women. it is NEVER ok. i dont know what happen in that car trip, and PERHAPS rihana might of 'provoked' him but that DOESNT GIVE ANY F*** right for what he did. i doubt you went through 'years of abuse' because then you knoow what it feels like. you are obviousily one of those people who see that its OK for these situations.

RiRi stated she would NOT LET IT GO-she would not drop it. She provoked the entire thing!! She also is guilty of abuse...she admitted in court docs that she too has hit Chris at times and verbally abusive too. She has no right speaking for me (I went through years of abuse) or anyone else! How well the timing was set up for this interview, with a new album about to drop; keep your clothes on!

give the hating a break guys. He was a young guy that made a mistake. The details have been in the media already. I just don't think she needed the blow by blow on national tv. That is what it seems like he was saying. People deserve 2nd chances in life.....

I think that she was really brave for doing the interview, and I think she is a good role model. It seems like the whole point of the interview is to let other women know that you don't have to stay in an abusive relationship. We knew he was an ***hole when he beat her, now he seems like a selfish one too for trying to stop her from helping others.
