UPDATE: Chris Brown Withdraws From Kids' Choice Awards
|
UPDATE: TMZ reports that Brown has withdrawn his name from the list of candidates for this year's Kids' Choice Awards.
A statement from Brown's rep reads, "Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song.
Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated.
While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so."
Chris Brown is up for two honors at this year's Kids' Choice Awards, but on the off-off-off chance that he actually wins one, don't expect him to accept the trophy live.
Brown, who's been charged with two felonies for allegedly beating his girlfriend Rihanna on February 8, will in all likelihood not be attending the event. A source close to the 19-year-old tells People magazine that Brown never intended to show up for the ceremony, which takes place on March 28, and is busy with other concerns at the moment.
"Chris has been hanging out with Rihanna, working on his music and spending time with and speaking with his mother and pastor," says the insider.
A rep for Nickelodeon, which will be airing the ceremony, confirms that Brown is not scheduled to appear at the show.
Brown is nominated for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song for his ditty "Kiss Kiss." Though a group called Twittermoms is petitioning Nickelodeon to remove Brown from the ceremony in any capacity, the station is holding firm on keeping Brown on the ballot.
"Like all our KCA nominees Chris Brown was nominated by kids several months ago based on his body of work as a performer, and the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category," a Nickelodeon spokesperson notes.

and so you should have girlfriend! Who do you think you are. I feel that he has no guilt with the whole situation. All the words coming from his mouth are just from his publicist. It is obvious, because of his rant about voting for him, then him suddenly taking himself out of the competition. Somebody needs to realise that his career is over, and its time to get a job at mcdonalds.
DON'T THROW HIM UNDER THE BUS JUST YET!!!
