Christian Bale Released, Denies Allegations

Jul 22, 2008 at 12:59pm

Christian Bale was released from police custody in London late today following allegations that he assaulted his mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, in a hotel room on Sunday.

TMZ has speculated that the charges stemmed from a “verbal assault.”

Bale’s lawyer gave the following statement:

“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police.”

The actor is in London on a promotional tour for The Dark Knight, which premiered there on Monday.

Bale had a 10-man police escort after his release, which followed him in a blacked-out silver Mercedes minivan.
