Christina Aguilera Won’t Talk Smack on Britney Spears
They were both former Disney Channel Mickey Mouse Club child stars in the early ’90s. And by the end of the decade, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears had become the princesses of post-grunge teen pop.
So now, 10 later, Aguilera is promoting her release Keeps Gettin’ Better—A Decade of Hits. Is she willing to come clean about any remaining rivarly that exists between her and Britney?
“When we both started releasing records, it was a funny time for me. It must have seemed as if we were competing with each other, but, in reality, Britney is someone that I used to hold hands with,” Aguilera tells the Daily Mail.
“We were silly little girls together on the Mickey Mouse Club. What a journey it has been for both of us!”
Yeah, yeah—what about now?
“There have been so many stories about the two of us not getting on. We don’t keep closely in touch with one another, and it’s obvious how our lives have taken on two different directions. I don’t pass any judgment on what she does. I always wish her all the best.”
Well, that’s true. These days Christina is far too busy giving vertigo to the citizens of Great Britain, dodging Paris Hilton and flirting with royalty to do the dance with Britney.
