Emmy-nominated Samantha Who? actress Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer, according to her rep.
"Benefitting from early detection through a doctor-ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening," Applegate's publicist Ame Van Iden said. "Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery."
Applegate's mother, Nancy Priddy, is a breast cancer survivor. Applegate has made fighting the disease her pet cause. In 2003, she was the spokesperson for Lee National Denim Day which raised money for a cure.
And she will appear alongside celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron and Meryl Streep during the Stand Up to Cancer telethon on September 5.
Applegate has had a tough time of it lately. Only last month, photographer Lee Grivas, Applegate's friend and ex-boyfriend, overdosed and died.
No one deserves that kind of bad luck. Get well soon, Christina!
