Christina Applegate appeared on Oprah Winfrey's show to discuss her battle with breast cancer. The interview airs today.
The Daily Mail reports that Applegate tells Winfrey she didn't cry about her diagnosis until she met the surgeon who was going to perform her double masectomy, after she chose to undergo the procedure.
"When I met with my doctor and I told him that was my decision and he brought the surgeon in, it was like the flood gates just opened up," she says. "I lost it."
Applegate says that she had an inkling at what the future held in regards to the disease. Her 67-year-old mother has survived breast cancer twice.
"She's had it twice and there was this part of me that sort of knew that the other shoe was going to drop," she claims.
Applegate will undergo eight months of surgery to reconstruct her breasts. Although they only found cancerous cells in one, she chose to have both removed to reduce the risk of the cancer coming back.
Luckily, Applegate says she is now 100% cancer free. And she's looking phenomenal.
