David Duchovny Has Michael Douglas Disease

David Duchovny, the leading man in Showtime's hit Californication series, appears to have been taking his work home with him. The show centers on a disillusioned writer who soothes his career disappointments with compulsive sexual behavior.

According to People magazine, the 48-year-old performer has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation center for the sexually dependent.

True to his Californication character, the Yale-educated ham recently suffered a career disappointment with the tanking of the X-Files movie.

After publicly announcing his rehab commitment, the actor—who has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997—asked for "respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The couple have two children, Madelaine West, 9, and Kyd, 6.

Plus any extra kids David might have strewn about in the throes of his affliction.

I don't think you realize what a sex symbol you were to everyone on the X-Files. You were the epitomé of the suave, d ebonair, intellectual, dedicated m an. Only Pez Brosnan equals you i n machismo. You were always s uperior to Gillian Anderson who s eemed to be constantly coming on t o you. You exuded sexual know-how nd prowess - you knew just what she anted and how to make her day, and w ere always attentive to her a dvances but you never c ondescended. She wasn't the woman f your dreams - the lover you w anted.
