Demi Lovato Reaches Out to Her Birth Dad From Rehab
Is rehab the new venue for healing fractured family ties?
First, Lindsay Lohan and her estranged father Michael reconnected through the venue of the Betty Ford Center, and now, Radar Online reports, Disney princess Demi Lovato has re-established contact with her birth father, Patrick Lovato, from her undisclosed treatment facility.
The elder Lovato tells Radar that his 18-year-old daughter, with whom he's shared a strained, distant relationship over the years, called him from treatment, and the news is good:
"Demi’s doing great, she’s such a strong girl...She told me she loved me, she really loves her daddy....She told me she’s getting better.”
News broke that Demi had entered treatment on November 1, following a reported altercation with a female backup dancer on the Camp Rock 2 tour, which she subsequently dropped out of. And though, since her biological father came out of obscurity to comment on her daughter's situation, there have been some strong words of caution from Disney, that's apparently not stopping him—or Demi—from mending their relationship.
Do you think that it's good for Demi to be reaching out to her estranged father in her time of need, or does that just create a further complication that might impede her recovery? Share your theories in the comments section.
