Why Did Taylor Swift & Jake Gyllenhaal Split?
What drove former couple Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift apart? According to relationship and publicity experts who spoke exclusively to Celebuzz, the Swyllenhaal romance may have been doomed due to the age-old celebrity relationship killer: long days spent apart.
Us Weekly reports that Jake was uncomfortable with the constant media attention and told friends that he "could feel the age difference." (Jake is 30 while Taylor just recently turned 21.) Was this enough to end the budding two-month romance?
Rob Shuter from PopEater.com tells Celebuzz that he can understand the publicity issue. "The two tried to date on the down low for a little bit," says Rob, "But it's impossible when you're as famous as Jake and Taylor."
"You never saw them at [paparazzi hot-spots] Nobu or The Ivy, they hung out at local coffeeshops."

Meanwhile, relationship expert Jessica Radloff tells Celebuzz that she doesn't buy the "too much publicity" excuse.
"I don't really buy the media attention excuse because Jake was more than happy to deal with the media when it came to his relationship with Reese Witherspoon," said Jessica. Jake has dated a number of famous women, including Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst.
However, Jessica does understand the age issue– to a point.
"As far as the age difference goes, yes, of course, there's a few years between them," said Jessica, "But I think it probably came down to Jake realizing they weren't that compatible and it's better to put an end to things now than continue on."
Jessica also says that being forced to spend time apart may have had something to do with the doomed romance.
"Listen, when you're living the kind of lives they are (traveling all the time, long hours on set, etc.) you have to really be in to someone to make it work...and even that doesn't guarantee it (look at Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds)."
For his part, Rob thinks that the a 9-year age difference "might have" had a hand in ending Taylor and Jake's relationship but he feels that the "You Belong with Me" singer is mature enough to relate to a 30-year-old man.
"I've met Taylor and even though she's quite young, she's a really smart girl," said Rob. "She's lived a rich life in a short amount of time. I'm not sure if it was the age or the attention or traveling."
Rob also doesn't buy the rumor that the short-lived relationship was just a publicity stunt.
"I don't think it was [a publicity stunt]," said Rob, "If it was a stunt we would see them at Nobu or the Waverly Inn. The fact they did this all in Brooklyn and when you start meeting family...that isn't publicity stuff."
The relationship was announced right in the middle of a big press push for Jake's new film, Love and Other Drugs. Check out the trailer below.
Jessica says that bottom line, the relationship probably just "fizzled out" in the early stages while Rob is a bit more optimistic: "Who know's if it's over, matchmaker Gwyneth Paltrow (who set up Jake and Taylor earlier this year) could be working on getting them back together again."
One thing is for certain: "I'm sure she's going to write a song about it," said Rob. Fans know that Taylor loves to write songs about her ex-boyfriends! Check out Taylor telling ex- and future beaus that they have "fair warning" that she is going to write about their relationship below.
