Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi should attend as many red-carpet ceremonies as they can in the coming months. They need practice walking down the aisle.

The talk-show host escorted her girlfriend of four years to the Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, with Portia conspicuously rocking a pink-diamond engagement ring.

DeGeneres, who won her fourth Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host at the ceremony, announced her intention to marry Portia on her show back in May.

"Yes, we have set a wedding date," said DeGeneres. "Planning a wedding is very stressful. It is crazy. My gardener is now invited." Well, at least the flowers will be pretty.
