Why Emma Watson Cut Her Hair Off
Harry Potter beauty Emma Watson sent shockwaves across the Internet yesterday when she debuted her new, dramatically short haircut. And while the verdict is still out among the general public, don’t expect Watson to go running for hair extensions in a fit of regret anytime soon. The 20-year-old tells EW.com that she’s been liberated by her close-cropped coif:
“Oh my God, it was the most liberating thing! The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it.”
So what inspired Watson to go with the short cut, which was provided by appropriately named New York stylist Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon? Says Watson,
“I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through. I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.’”
Was Watson’s experiment successful? Render your verdict in the comments section—after examining the evidence in closer detail, of course.

dude i had long hair all thru my life.like really long hair.when i was 15 i got a haircut almost as dramatic as hers.nd i was happy with it.for like a week…. then i saw all the pretty dolls on the street with long hair nd my hair is stil not that long.. cutting my hair was one of the WORST decisions of MY LIFE. i never told it to anyone cuz i didnt wanna emberras myself by admitting it but man…was i furious at myself :D
Very cute. She has a great face for that look. Well any look to be honest. If she changes her mind, she can afford the really good weaves.
She used to be so pretty. Beautiful even. I will never understand some girls desire to shear all their hair off. I don’t care why she didn’t, she looks horrible. Absolutely horrible. She doesn’t even look like a girl anymore, she looks like a very young, gay boy. Which there’s nothing wrong with… if you’re a gay boy!
I actually think it looks great. So there, take that society
ew
I always felt Emma Watson was gorgeous(my same age so not creepy) and she has one of those faces that can pull off the short hair cut.

That’s the most ridiculous comment. She has a beautiful face and body. No one will mistake her for a boy. People have different tastes and styles, shockingly and just because you don’t care for it doesn’t mean it’s wrong or undesirable it only means that you don’t like it.
I don’t think these photos are all that fair. The one she posted on her facebook was beautiful, but here she’s all windblown and the outfit makes her look kinda like a soccer mom (sorry Emma!). And really-it’s her body and her hair and she can do whatever she wants with it. Good for her for not giving a damn what other people think. ;]
meh, natalie portman wannabe..
Another toilet brush haircut. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have the kind of face that can pull it off. Fortunately, hair grows back.
I have always considered Emma as one of the prettiest girls around but I don’t like this haircut at all.. I mean, it looks good on her but she looked way better when she had that lovely long hair.
she’s gorgeous. i love the mia farrow cut. emma watson is the epitome of elegance within young “hollywood” ( she’s really not even ‘hollywood’ ). LOVE it, love her.
But i do not love that my refresh code is eminem :
I think that she looks beautiful, I love girls with short hair!
The B&W photo of her with the short hair is gorgeous! Very Mia Farrow-like. Perhaps she’ll be considered for the Gatsby remake.
In my opinion, she needed to do this. For all of her teenage life she had to maintain a certain look for her role as Hermione. Filming is done and she needed something to do to remind her that she is in control of her life. I think a haircut is far more healthy than what some young actors and actresses turn to.
She looks like Samantha Ronson now
it looks ugly. enough said
Um excuse me. She is still very pretty and blindingly beautiful. There is nothing wrong with short hair, especially on Emma. And she still looks feminine and chic. Check out her amazing facebook photo if you will. She blows my mind with her drive for success and courage to be herself. Plus, the fact that you mentioned she looks like a “very young, gay boy” leaves the impression that there is something wrong with being a “very young, gay boy.”

cutting hair for a woman is the most liberating thing in the world. not only is is liberating but it takes a lot of guts to show your face to the world, you cant hide your insecurities behind long locks when youve chopped off all your hair. cutting your hair makes a woman have to redefine beauty fo herself. its an amawing journey of shattering societal norms and self discovery
She looks a lot like Natalie Portman with this kind of hair. I think it suits her and it looks better on her than I would’ve imagined. And besides we’re talking about HAIR here… must it really cause this big of an issue?
I think she is beautiful no matter what she does to her hair! I appreciate her confidence and hope that it inspires other girls to make their own decisions and not follow the barbie doll trends of Hollywood. Long hair, short hair, what does it matter?? She is a successful young actress who is educated and driven. I think she makes a wonderful role model for young girls (which is difficult to find in the media!) and her short hair cut continues to inspire female empowerment.
Emma looked really gorgeous before she well, cut her whole ponytail off i mean. But really, i dun think she should have done it( not that she isn’t beautiful anymore, but i think she looks better with long hair
i think its so cute. she is so beautiful and the cut worked out for her : ) it really surprised me though, her just chopping it all off like that.
I think she looked beautiful with long hair, amazingly beuatiful. whereas she’s still pretty but it just not as breathtaking now ): she’ll never be ugly though…
emma watson was sooooo pretty with her wavy fair hair and now she cuts it!!! how am i supposed to see a bald hermoine on deathly hallows part 2 huh . i am so out of the emma fan club and so did the whole world
IT LOOKS UGLY!!!!! SHE LOOKS LIKE A BOY!!!! IT’S SICK AND IT MAKES ME SICK!!!
