Evan Rachel Wood Takes on Spider-man

What's a girl to do after breaking up with Marilyn Manson—besides scrub herself from head to toe?

If you're Evan Rachel Wood, you sign on to play Spider-man's girlfriend on the Great White Way.

IESB reports that Wood, who broke up with ghoulish rocker Manson, 39, last month, has joined the cast of an upcoming Spider-man musical, which begins rehearsals in June 2009 and is expected to open on Broadway in early to mid-2010.

The 21-year-old actress will be playing Mary Jane Watson, girlfriend to Spidey alter-ego Peter Parker. The character of Watson has been portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in the Spider-man movie series.

The play will boast a score written by U2 guitarist the Edge, and will be directed by Julie Taymor, 55, whose résumé includes the stage production of The Lion King as well as the 2002 Frida Kahlo biopic Frida.

The role of Parker/Spider-man has yet to be filled, though 27-year-old actor Jim Sturgess, who appeared in the 2007 Beatles-inspired musical Across the Universe (also directed by Taymor), is on the short list.

Wood says that the play's producers are "still trying to convince him."

That's what you do need Evan, just sing and don't think about that stupid monster!! you deserve much better than him... and one more thing...please back to the old version Evan Wood, that blonde little sweet girl, this new look is scare the hell of me... remember your look in (once and again ) when you played Jessie ? that's was perfect even if you were young..you were great!
