Everything New Kids Is Old Again

on Jul. 1, 2008 05:59 PM / 4 Comments

The recently reunited New Kids on the Block—who failed to inspire much beyond yawns with their Today Show appearance—have entered the recording studio with New Edition to record a song together.

The visionary presiding over this meeting of musical masters? RedOne, the producer on Heidi Montag's debut album.

The New Kids/New Edition track, "Full Service," was co-penned by RedOne, NKOTB's Donnie Wahlberg and New York disco maven Lady GaGa, and will appear on the New Kids' upcoming album.

"It sounds very universal and melodic," knob-twiddler RedOne told People magazine. "It's very uplifting. Right away you start feeling good."

Of course, this is coming from the guy who helped inflict Heidi Montag's musical stylings on the world.

New Edition-er and legendary crackhead Bobby Brown was not involved with the recording.

Doesn't Bobby deserve to right away start feeling good?

“Holy shite! You don't know what this means! The two greatest musical acts to come out of Boston (and that is a sad, sad scenario and a story for another day) are uniting! I might have to change my shorts! New Kids on the Block and New Edition have recorded a song together.

If Bobby Brown were involved, I might burst into fan girl tears.

These bitches need some checks! It's full-out Boston boy band nostalgia!

"Donnie Wahlberg had this idea for a few months, since New Kids had the idea of getting back together really," says some producer guy with the sad name of RedOne. "Donnie's been looking for that one track for all of them and I think we found it."

The track is called "I Can't Handle The Child Support, Bitch, So We Need To Go Back To Court And Address This Situation." No, it's called "Full Service." If that means Joey MacIntyre's going to be shirtless and trying to hit those high notes, count my ass in.

The song will be included on NKOTB's upcoming album. RedOne (*chortle*) says that the recording went smoothly and that the boys "prayed together" before recording. Prayed for a damn miracle that someone would buy this tragedy.

Seriously, I have grown ass men and women friends (straight people mind you) here in Mass. who are JAZZED as hell for this whole reunion thing. I have husbands going voluntarily to the show with their wives' friends! When their wives don't even want to go! At a dinner party one evening, people started spinning that "Summertime" song and bitches were bobbing their heads like it was Dre or something! I can not handle this!

Will you go see NKOTB on tour?
