‘Forbes’ Top 10 Overpaid Actors: Stars Don’t Shine
Forbes magazine has released their list of the Top 10 Overpaid Actors working today, and it’s a doozy.
For the massive salaries these stars receive, the return on investment to movie studios seems to be very meager.
New mom Nicole Kidman tops the overpaid list.
“Kidman’s films earn a mere $1 for every dollar Kidman was paid, compared with $8 in 2007. The Invasion, a second remake of the 1956 classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, actually lost $2.68 for every dollar Kidman earned,” the magazine reports.
Other costly ineffective stars include Kidman’s ex Tom Cruise ($4 return for every dollar he was paid, Lions for Lambs anyone?) and Cameron Diaz (her films made $4 for every dollar Diaz earned between 2006 and 2007 which totalled $50 million in income for her).
The pregnant Jennifer Garner better step it up. For every dollar she was paid to star in the 2006 comedy Catch and Release, the film earned 34 cents. Ouch!
Other actors on the list include Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey, Nicholas Cage (no one went to see Ghost Rider? Shocking.), Drew Barrymore, Will Ferrell and Cate Blanchett.
These actors better hope that the studios don’t subscribe to Forbes. There could be some major downsizing goin’ on.
