Out and Proud!
After struggling with his sexuality for more than 10 years, Aaron Carter is out of the closet. For his first performance since coming out as bisexual, the singer took the stage at a Florida gay bar to celebrate finally being able to be his true self. Single and free, the 29-year-old — who recently revealed his attraction to both men and woman in an emotional social media post — opened up about being a bisexual and what’s next in his love life. (Hint: It may even include going on a date with another famous celebrity!)
Aaron Carter recently came out of the closet more than 10 years since his first sexual experience with another man, telling fans he identified as bisexual in a lengthy social media post. Speaking candidly about his sexuality, the 29-year-old shared he had been attracted to men and woman for a long time.
“This doesn’t bring me shame, just a weight and burden I have held onto for a long time that I would like lifted off of me. I grew up in this entertainment industry at a very young age and when I was around 13-years-old I started to find boys and girls attractive,” he wrote. “There were years that went by that I thought about it, but it wasn’t until I was 17-years old, after a few relationships with girls, I had an experience with a male that I had an attraction to who I also worked with and grew up with.”
“The studio has always been my safe haven. But the ultimate goal for me is to be satisfied. I never want to be a figure of disappointment,” he added.
In coming out, the singer broke things off with longtime girlfriend Madison Parker, who he claimed was not accepting of his bisexuality when he told her about his love for men as well as woman. “I had discussed it with my ex-girlfriend, and she didn’t really understand it. She didn’t want [to],” he told The Bert Show just days after coming out. “And that was it. So we left it mutual and parted ways.”
Confirming he’s “a single man now,” Aaron added, “Whether I should be with a woman or a man is my decision, no one else’s.”
According to Us Weekly, Madison furious when she found out Aaron was bisexual. “Madison moved out a week ago,” an insider said. “Aaron asked her to leave and helped her pack her things, but she was angry and calling him names when she was leaving.”
Madison even poked fun of Aaron on Instagram. In a photo with the “Candy” crooner and his male publicist, the photographer cruelly joked on Twitter, “Can’t wait to come to the wedding.”
Despite the dig, Aaron brushed it off and hit the stage at Hamburger Mary’s — a bar known for its burgers and drag queen performances — on Thursday, August 10th, near his hometown in Brandon, Fla. The youngest brother of Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter performed a compilation of old hits and newer songs, before addressing the crowd at the LGBT-friendly venue about his sexuality.
“Yes, I am a bisexual male,” he told the audience.
