August Alsina has become to latest hip-hop artist to reveal a past drug addiction. Past, being the key word here.
August Alsina has been relatively quiet for months, but now, he’s surfaced via an interview with Jada Pinkett-Smith. The artist shared some well-hidden secrets, including his past drug addition.
“If you asked my brother, anybody … I’m like, raining Percs. Off my body, off my house. I was literally raining pills like Skittles,” he said. Scroll to the end of this article to watch the video.
Meek Mill, who was released from prison in April, admitted to his drug addition as well. The rapper, who has become the face of the downfalls of America’s legal system, spoke up about his experience while calling for “criminal justice reform” in efforts to ignite change.
“I think it should be a line drawn where you have a drug problem and you’re scared to tell your probation officer you have a drug problem because you don’t want to be sent to prison for years,” he said.
Alongside Philadelphia Governor Tom Wolf and other state officials, the “1942 Flows” artist talked about his struggle with addiction. He revealed, “At one point in my life, I was actually addicted to opioids.”
After expressing that parolees feeling fearful to ask for help is crossing a boundary, he thanked his P.O. for getting him help.
