Beyoncé Debuts First Photo of Twins Sir and Rumi Carter
Beyoncé shook the world to the core in February when she announced she was expecting twins with husband Jay-Z. The “Hold Up” singer announced the pregnancy by posing in a maternity shoot featuring flowers and — natch — her budding baby bump.
“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over,” she wrote on Instagram. “We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. -The Carters”
Queen Bey went into labor in early June, welcoming a baby boy and a girl with Jay-Z at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Though the birth was never confirmed by the couple, Beyoncé’s father let slipped the happy news by publicly congratulating the parents on their new bundles of joy.
“They’re here! #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday,” Matthew Knowles tweeted alongside a photo that read, “Happy Birthday to the twins! Love, Granddad.”
Soon after the birth, news started spreading that Beyoncé had actually suffered a “minor issue” in the delivery room. According to reports, the twins were actually born premature and needed to remain “under the lights” meant for babies who were not carried to full-term.
The procedure reportedly helped lower bilirubin in the blood to eliminate the jaundice, a condition common amongst premature babies.
