Leave Maddie alone!
Things have been going great for Dance Moms alum Maddie Ziegler over the past few years. Since taking her leave of the long-running reality show during it sixth season, Maddie has absolutely blown up. She’s been touring the world with pop-star Sia, starring in Hollywood films like The Book of Henry and the upcoming Sister.
Despite her major success over the past three years, everything isn’t smooth sailing for the 15-year-old star. Over the past sixth months, Maddie and her family have been dealing with something more sinister behind the scenes ― a string of hackers bent on making life difficult for the young star. Word has it, they’re all it again.
Good Times Roll
Life has been good for Dance Moms superstar Maddie Ziegler since she decided to take her leave of the long-running reality show during its sixth season. The 15-year-old dancer made her big-screen debut in Book of Henry, has toured the globe alongside elusive Australian pop-star, Sia, and even became a fixture as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation. But that’s not all she’s been doing. She’s also been dealing with vicious hackers bent on bringing her down.
According to the report from TMZ the star has been dealing with Instagram hackers for months now. The ordeal, which started in September of last year, has taken quite the emotional toll on the young star, and her family is finally taking legal action. The outlet reports that the Ziegler family has filed a report with the LAPD which alleges that the star was hacked by an unknown party last fall.
According to the filing, those responsible have yet to make any demands of the star, but have let her know that they have been in her devices and have access to her photos, videos, and messages.
Maddie herself has confirmed the rumors in live videos during which she has felt the need to explain the actions of the hackers to her followers. In late Nov. 2017, the dancer took to Instagram Live to explain that the curious activity on her account was the result of a stranger accessing her social media profiles and attempting to get followers to think that she was cheating on her boyfriend of six months.
That said, it is unclear whether the two incidents are related or even the work of the same people.
Unfortunately, Maddie isn’t the only Dance Moms star who has dealt with invasion of privacy. Back in 2015 the whole cast fell victim to a group of teenage girls who accessed their private information — including photos, videos, messages, and financial information — multiple times. The people responsible turned out to be a group of teenage girls themselves, dubbed “The Mean Girls” by the press. It’s reported that Maddie’s younger sister, Mackenzie Ziegler (then just 11 years old) received 2,000 messages to her private device in one evening as a result of the hackers’ actions.
