Jim Bob won't be happy about this...
It looks like Jim Bob Duggar is having a hard time controlling his daughters now that they’ve married out of the family! Despite imposing strict religious rules on his children, including adhering to the controversial belief that women should have their legs covered at all times, the Counting On patriarch is said to be butting heads with his extended family after several of his older girls broke free from their ultra-conservative traditions for more mainstream practices. Something tells us this will certainly put a divide in the Duggar clan!
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar‘s grip over their daughters have loosened in the recent years as the girls continue to marry out of the family. No one has noticeably changed more than Jinger and Jill Duggar, who both moved out of the family home when they married more liberal-minded husbands.
Jinger shocked her family when she left Arkansas — where her entire massive family is based — to go to her husband Jeremy Vuolo’s home in Laredo, Texas, becoming the first Duggar daughter to live in another state. The big move not only put a lot of physical distance between herself and her ultra-conservative parents, but also allowed her to revamp her lifestyle without being constantly watched by Jim Bob and Michelle. For one, the 23-year-old openly defied her mom’s strict “floor-length skirts only” dress code for girls by switching to pants and shorts that showed off her legs.
Meanwhile, Jill quit her missionary work with husband, Derick Dillard, earlier this year and announced she would not return to El Salvador to continue her humanitarian efforts.
Leap of Faith
Now, it seems the Duggar daughters are even dabbling in different religious doctrines. Jinger has been adamant on sticking by her Calvinist husband’s side, while Jill has just become involved in a new youth-oriented ministry that takes a less fundamentalist view of Christianity than the one Jim Bob and Michelle practices.
According to a new Facebook post Jill and Derick attended an enrollment ceremony for the Cross Church School of Ministry, a “one-year residential ministry” where the students learn how to be effective in “Gospel advancement.” The couple were spotted in a photo welcoming this year’s batch of students as Jill beamed ear-to-ear while holding her one-month-old son, Samuel.
Fans quickly noticed that most of the students at the celebration wore fashionable clothes that did not adhere to the Duggar family’s conservative standards, pointing out several of the women in attendance who were wearing above-the-knee dresses that Michelle would frown upon. Many also wondered how Jim Bob would feel about Jill and her husband studying the Bible separately from their church’s main congregation.
“It will be good for Derek [sic] and Jill to be with people with a different brand of Christianity than the Duggars. See hems above the knee and it hasn’t become a frenzied den of evil,” one Facebook user commented.
Per the Cross Church School of Ministry’s website, students pay a $12,000 to be able to get into the program. Given that Jill and Derick recently shut down Dillard Family Ministries and stopped accepting donations from the public, this could mean they will solely rely on their earnings from Counting On.
