EXCLUSIVE: ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star and ‘King and Queens’ Singer Jesse Montana Talks About SUR
"It’s almost like a little bit of PTSD reliving it again"
CB: What’s it like working at SUR? Is it weird having cameras on you all the time?
Jesse Montana: I’ve been at SUR for five plus years now. [Being filmed] is like my new norm. I’ve been in the mix for so long. I love it. It’s so much energy. Such great people. Wild personalities, of course, but a lot of heart deep down underneath it all which is the most important.
CB: You have been in the mix for a while now. How long have you been with Lisa Vanderpump?
Jesse: Since around season two going into season three when Scheana got married originally, her big wedding special. That’s when it all started, and that’s when I started working at PUMP. I came over onto SUR during season four.
Jesse: You know how they edit the show, it’s definitely made to look like that. Everyone had been talking about it for the entire duration of Scheana’s party from the jump. There were a handful of people that were talking about it like two days going into it. As with every other rumor at SUR, this is all just hearsay until you see concrete proof.
Passion for Music
CB: Speaking of relationships, we caught our first glimpse of Patrick, Stassi’s boyfriend in the last episode. Have you met him before?
Jesse: I personally haven’t met myself. I know when we were celebrating the finale episode, I saw him… I’ve seen him in passing throughout the season, but I’ve never personally had the pleasure.
CB: Enough about SUR, let’s talk about your music. So is that why you originally moved out to L.A.?
Jesse: Music’s always been my number one. I love it, I’ve been singing my whole life. So coming out here and having a beautiful platform given to me by both Lisa and Bravo has been such a blessing. So it’s been really, really exciting and very amazing. It’s been an incredible year, actually.
So Much Drama
CB: Is Lisa supportive of your music?
Jesse: I was blown away that my first season, they just really ran [with it]. We film so much, unfortunately there’s a lot of stuff that people don’t get to see. They filmed a lot of me in the studio with James Kennedy and Lala Kent.
They did this amazing moment where everybody showed up for my big show in Los Angeles. It was one of my biggest gigs to date at that point. It was at The Mint, the whole cast showed up and Lisa. So I’ve been really blessed to have this support system, because I can’t say that a lot of people have that opportunity, so it’s been really amazing.
My next single “Colors” that I wrote about falling in love in L.A. is being released on all digital platforms in December.
CB: What else can you tell us about the rest of the season?
Jesse: All I can really say is you guys are in for a wild ride. It’s probably one of the best seasons to date. So with that said, it’s hard to look back in retrospect and even to the beginning of it all which seems so long ago. It’s almost like a little bit of PTSD reliving it again on TV in fragments the way they serve it to fans.
